If sleeping among the stars is something you've always dreamed about, your dreams may soon become a reality at the Galactic Suite Space Resort. The world's first-ever hotel designed for outer space is a pod that can sleep two pilots and four guests. The hotel is designed to orbit Earth at a distance of 450 kilometers and a speed of 30,000 kilometers per hour, which equals 15 sunrises and sunsets per day. The futuristic resort is due for completion in 2012 and getting there will cost a pretty penny—US$4.4 million for the eight-week astronaut training course on a tropical island and a three-night stay at the hotel.

The goldfish hotel at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is raising eyebrows and garnering awards for being one of the most unusual pet hotels in the world. Travelers who worry about where to take their pets when they go on vacation can now breath easier because their fishy friends will be well looked after in the world's first fish hotel. The aquatic hotel, which houses 80 permanent residents, is a large aquarium that includes a tennis court and a pool with a slide. The fish-sitting service is part of an advertising campaign for a Dutch travel agency. Clients who book through the travel agency can put their fish up in the facility for free. Each goldfish receives its own private suite so that it won't get mixed up with other guests. If the fish accidentally dies while a customer is on vacation, the owner can take one of the 80 permanent ones home.
