Who would have thought that those small, sticky Post-it notes could be used so creatively? In what's being called Post-it wars, office workers in Paris have been trying to _(1)_ each other in coming up with the biggest and the best Post-it artwork.

The first shot in this raging war was in the spring of 2011, _(2)_ employees at French video game company Ubisoft stuck a small space invader, an alien creature from a popular video game from the late 1970s, on its windows. Employees at a bank that faced the video company responded by creating a much larger, more elaborate Post-it creation. Ubisoft countered with another even more epic Post-it window _(3)_ , and the battle was on. Soon, workers at other companies across Paris decided to get in on the fun. Post-it fever has _(4)_ spread to other French cities and even other countries.
The subjects of all these artistic Post-it creations are _(5)_ and can be anything from celebrities, such as Marilyn Monroe and Michael Jackson, to iconic video game figures, including Pac-Man and Super Mario. The more intricate creations are a few stories high and _(6)_ of thousands and thousands of colorful pieces of paper. A website showing photos of many of the pixelated images was created by a French digital communications agency. You can _(7)_ at www.postitwar.com. The site is in French, but the pictures are worth a thousand words in any language.

  1. In what's being called Post-it wars, office workers in Paris have been trying to outdo each other in coming up with the biggest and the best Post-it artwork.
    a. (A) ignore vt.
    (B) outdo vt.
The young players tried to outdo each other in front of the coach.
    (C) remove vt.
    (D) distort vt.
例: The newspaper distorted what the politician said during her speech.
  2. The first shot in this raging war was in the spring of 2011, when employees at French video game company Ubisoft stuck...on its windows.
The earthquake struck at 5:10 AM, when most people in Taipei were still sleeping.
    b. what 為複合關係代名詞,即等於 the thing(s) which,使用時,其前不可再有先行詞(名詞),故 (A) 不可選。
  3. Ubisoft countered with another even more epic Post-it window display, and the battle was on.
    a. (A) content n. 內容
    (B) display n.
There is a collection of Egyptian art on display at the museum this month.
    (C) process n. 過程
    (D) review n. 評論
例: The review of the Japanese author's new book was generally positive.
  4. Post-it fever has since spread to other French cities and even other countries.
Tom graduated from college last year and hasn't been able to find a job since.
  5. The subjects of all these artistic Post-it creations are diverse and can be anything from celebrities, such as Marilyn Monroe and Michael Jackson, to iconic video game figures, including Pac-Man and Super Mario.
    a. (A) diverse a.
The school offers a diverse range of courses for students to choose from.
    (B) generous a.
    (C) limited a. 有限的
例: The politician's power was limited because he was going to be replaced soon.
    (D) promising a.
Lisa is a promising young actress that will surely be a success someday.
  6. The more intricate creations are a few stories high and consist of thousands and thousands of colorful pieces of paper.
    a. (A) insist vi. 堅持
    insist on...
例: Gina insists on cooking for me every time I visit her.
    (B) resist vi. & vt.
The official couldn't resist the temptation and took the bribe.
    (C) consist vi.
    consist of...

If you persist in harassing your ex-girlfriend, she'll file charges against you.
  7. You can check them out at www.postitwar.com.
    a. (A) put...out/put out... 使……
例: Don't try to put out a grease fire with water.
    (B) take...out/take out... 將……
例: Tim and Karen are arguing about whose turn it is to take out the trash.
    (C) let...out/let out...
Crying is a good way of letting out our emotions.
    (D) check...out/check out...
例: Let's go check out the new koalas at the city zoo.

(B) 2. (C) 3. (B) 4. (D) 5. (A) 6. (C) 7. (D)
