　　In the past, life was much harder than it is today. Surviving was not always easy when storms, wild animals, or enemies could come at any time. No wonder people tried to see what the future would hold. Today, even with life being easier, we want to know what might happen tomorrow. Therefore, we turn to divination to get some answers. Divination is the ability to notice signs and tell what will happen in the future. It is also known as fortune-telling.
 

　　Some ways to tell one's fortune are well-known. Many people have had predictions made through the use of crystal balls. Others turn to tarot cards to help them understand a particular situation. Still others prefer to have the lines on the palms of their hands read to find out what their future may be like.

　　There are even more unique ways for people to get answers about their lives. Some fortune-tellers use birds. One method is to have a tamed fortune-telling bird choose a prediction card. Another way uses wild birds. A person with a question catches a bird and brings it to the fortune-teller. The bird is then released. The fortune-teller watches how the bird flies before he or she makes a prediction.

   Jonathan prefers to exercise outside instead of in a gym.
   強納森比較喜歡到戶外運動，而不是去健身房。
   
6. unique a. 獨特的
   Snowflakes are unique because no two are the same.
   每片雪花都是獨一無二，因為沒有任何二片是一樣的。
   
7. method n. 方法
   I agree with your principles but not with your method because it is too violent.
   我認同你的原則但不是用你的方法，因為那樣的做法太暴力了。
   
8. release vt. 釋放
   The criminal was released after being in prison for 10 years.
   那名罪犯吃了十年牢飯後終於被釋放了。
